About us

The JETS administration and clerical programme is a competency framework that aims to ensure that the administrative workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge to do their jobs and to support greater efficiency in endoscopy booking and scheduling. It focuses on:

supporting the development of knowledge and skills relating to endoscopy

improving access to training and minimise disruption to service delivery

providing access to high-quality educational materials and educational platforms that local teams can access easily

ensuring sustainability by equipping the admin workforce with the skills and knowledge to do their jobs.

These activities aim to help ensure that relevant staff receive the necessary training and support to work effectively. This framework may be used by employers, education providers and individuals to inform training needs. It will also help lay the foundations for a career pathway framework for non-clinical staff, within endoscopy. This is important to secure a sustainable current and future workforce, offering opportunities for development.

The JETS administration and clerical programme is designed to be used by current and new endoscopy administrative staff.

The programme can be used by all services that are registered to the JAG accreditation programme in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

 Benefits of the programme

For the service

  • Improves monitoring of staff training and development, enabling more intelligent management of resource and identification of gaps in knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Provides standards for all staff to be trained to and assurance that staff have the required skills.
  • Certification offers reward to those in post, supporting development of a team culture which should improve staff retention and encourage new starters to work in endoscopy.

For the workforce

  • Provides framework for training and clear standards to work towards.
  • Increases confidence, job satisfaction and sense of achievement through gathering of evidence and attainment of final certification.

For patients

  • Promotes consistent, safe care by setting a minimum standard of training which all staff will receive.
  • Improves patient experience as competencies cover a broad range of skills.

This new competency framework enables organisation and endoscopy services to communicate the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are required, valued, recognised and rewarded with respect to administrative and clerical roles. It ensures that administrative and clerical staff have a common understanding of the expected excellent performance behaviours.
